HAI Global Internships
HAI is a non-profit, independent, global network of over 200 consumer groups, public interest NGOs, healthcare providers, academics and individuals in more than 70 countries, operating from four regional offices (Amsterdam, Penang, Lima and Nairobi) and HAI Global (Amsterdam). HAI promotes increased access to essential medicines and their rational use, through research excellence and evidence-based advocacy, and works to achieve a world in which all people, particularly the poor and disadvantaged, are able to exercise their human right to health.
There are currently two internships available in the HAI Global office in Amsterdam.
Manual Project Assistant Volunteer Internship
The WHO/HAI teaching manual aims to provide practical training for students on how to recognise various promotional techniques and how to access good quality, independent information about medicines. The intern will work in close collaboration with the HAI Global team under the supervision of Renée Vasbinder, Promotions Manual Logistics Coordinator.
Responsibilities include executing strategies to expand the Manual ‘Understanding and responding to Pharmaceutical Promotion’, including identifying relevant universities, medical schools and associations of interest, and communicating with them about teaching the manual.

A-Z Project Assistant Volunteer Internship
HAI has created a first-of-its kind encyclopaedia of the politics of medicines from the perspective of the HAI expert network of consumer group, Non-Governmental Organisational, health care professional, academics, media and individual partners in more than 70 countries. The publication will be an interactive, web-based, ‘wiki’ encyclopaedia of existing knowledge in the politics of medicine, and whilst a number of essay-type publications are ready for posting, the website is not yet populated. The intern will work in close collaboration with the HAI Global team under the supervision of Renée Vasbinder, Administrative Coordinator MeTA Secretariat.
Responsibilities include editing the essays and publishing them on the Politics of Medicines website, contacting authors to write essays and searching for donors to fund a hard copy of the encyclopaedia.

Both internships are for a minimum of three months. The projects will begin mid-February, the exact starting date will be discussed with successful applicants. The positions are for a minimum of 32 hours per week, with remuneration of €150 per calendar month. Please note that interns will be expected to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation in the Netherlands.
